چکیده

Significance Microlasers in near-degenerate supermodes play a pivotal role for studies of non-Hermitian physics, novel light sources, and advanced sensors. However, the widely observed beating phenomena single-mode nature stimulated scattering have been generating lasing characteristic dilemma. In this article, we experimentally elucidate spectral paradox by investigating dynamics supermode Raman microlasers. The behavior is confirmed, signal has recognized as transient interference during switching between with help self-injection technique. This work provides an insightful guidance microlaser-based precision measurements paves way to reconfigurable sources.

Single nanoparticle detection using split-mode microcavity Raman lasers.

Ultrasensitive nanoparticle detection holds great potential for early-stage diagnosis of human diseases and for environmental monitoring. In this work, we report for the first time, to our knowledge, single nanoparticle detection by monitoring the beat frequency of split-mode Raman lasers in high-Q optical microcavities. We first demonstrate this method by controllably transferring single 50-nm...

Ultralow-threshold microcavity Raman laser on a microelectronic chip.

Using ultrahigh-Q toroid microcavities on a chip, we demonstrate a monolithic microcavity Raman laser. Cavity photon lifetimes in excess of 100 ns combined with mode volumes typically of less than 1000 (microm)3 significantly reduce the threshold for stimulated Raman scattering. In conjunction with the high ideality of a tapered optical fiber coupling junction, stimulated Raman lasing is observ...

Transverse mode coupling and supermode establishment in a free-electron laser oscillator

A three-dimensional study of transverse mode evolution in a free-electron laser (FEL) oscillator is presented. The total electromagnetic field circulating in the resonator is represented as a superposition of transverse modes of the cavity. Coupled-mode theory is employed to derive a generalized 3-D steady-state oscillation criterion. from which the oscillator superrnode can be found analytical...

Actively mode-locked Raman fiber laser.

Active mode-locking of Raman fiber laser is experimentally investigated for the first time. An all fiber connected and polarization maintaining loop cavity of ~500 m long is pumped by a linearly polarized 1120 nm Yb fiber laser and modulated by an acousto-optic modulator. Stable 2 ns width pulse train at 1178 nm is obtained with modulator opening time of > 50 ns. At higher power, pulses become ...

Ultrafast Raman laser mode-locked by nanotubes.

We demonstrate passive mode-locking of a Raman fiber laser using a nanotube-based saturable absorber coupled to a net normal dispersion cavity. This generates highly chirped 500 ps pulses. These are then compressed down to 2 ps, with 1.4 kW peak power, making it a simple wavelength-versatile source for various applications.
